Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau made their red carpet debut as a couple at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival on Monday night, putting their relationship firmly in the spotlight.

The singer and the former Canadian prime minister appeared comfortable and affectionate as they posed for photographers at the premiere of Perry’s concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris. The pair were seen smiling, embracing, and gently touching foreheads while walking the red carpet together.

Perry turned heads in a flowing white halter-neck gown inspired by Grecian fashion, complete with delicate rose details. Trudeau opted for a timeless look, wearing a black suit with a white open-collar shirt.

Speaking to reporters at the event, Trudeau couldn’t help but praise Perry. “I saw the show three times but I wasn’t paying attention to anything but Katy, so I’m looking forward to seeing the show now for the first time,” he joked to Entertainment Tonight.

Rumors about the couple first surfaced in July when they were spotted enjoying a walk together in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park alongside Perry’s dog. Later that evening, they were also seen sharing dinner and drinks.

The outing came shortly after Perry and actor Orlando Bloom announced the end of their seven-year engagement. The former couple share a daughter together.

Speculation surrounding Perry and Trudeau intensified in early October when photographs emerged showing them embracing aboard Perry’s yacht near Santa Barbara, California. Soon after, the pair appeared to confirm their romance when Perry posted photos featuring Trudeau during his visit to Japan on Instagram.

Since then, the couple have continued to make public appearances together, including attending a private Netflix screening event and spending time at Coachella.

Trudeau stepped down as prime minister in March 2025. Before his relationship with Perry, he was married to Sophie Grégoire. The former couple announced their separation in 2023 after 18 years together and share three children.

Meanwhile, Trudeau’s eldest son, Xavier, who is pursuing a music career, recently revealed that Perry has become one of his trusted advisors when it comes to his songs.

“When I’m really happy with a song, [I] sent it to [her],” he said on the Can’t Be Censored podcast. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change,” he said.
