The Calgary dining scene is bidding a bittersweet farewell to a prominent Italian spot. Lina’s Trattoria, located at 2220 Centre St. N., has officially closed its doors after less than two years in business.

Brought to life by the team behind the iconic Lina’s Market, the restaurant first opened in August 2024. Over its short run, it served as a lively community hub for authentic Italian comfort food.

A Bittersweet Goodbye
The team at Lina’s Trattoria shared the emotional news with their followers, expressing immense gratitude for the short but impactful journey.

“To our wonderful Calgary community, serving you has been the honor of a lifetime. You turned our dream into a reality, and we are eternally grateful for every meal and memory shared,” the restaurant stated.

While the closure marks the end of a chapter for Lina’s Trattoria, it isn’t the end of the road for the building itself.

What’s Next for the Space?
Calgary foodies won’t have to wait long to see what fills the void. In a heartwarming twist for the local food scene, ownership of the Centre Street space has been seamlessly handed over to another beloved local Italian brand: Scarpetta Cucina.

The Lina’s team expressed total confidence in the transition, stating:

“While saying goodbye is bittersweet, we are absolutely thrilled that this space is staying within Calgary’s incredible Italian culinary community. We know they are going to bring pure magic to these walls.”

Restaurant turnover is notoriously tough, but seeing local businesses support one another ensures that Calgary’s vibrant food culture keeps thriving. While Lina’s Trattoria will be missed, anticipation is already building to see what kind of fresh, culinary magic Scarpetta Cucina will bring to the neighborhood.
