VANCOUVER — The FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver officially opened on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the PNE fairgrounds in Hastings Park, drawing thousands of fans for the kickoff of World Cup 2026 celebrations.

Lines formed along Renfrew Street well before the 10 a.m. gates opened, setting the tone for five weeks of free public festivities.

Opening Day at Hastings Park {#opening-day}

The crowd was unmistakably international — a sea of jerseys from around the world filled the grounds. Mexico fans dominated the new PNE Amphitheatre as El Tri played in the tournament opener.

Mexico’s Dramatic Victory {#mexico-win}

Mexico defeated South Africa 2-0 at Estadio Azteca in a chaotic opening match that saw three red cards — a historic first for a World Cup opener. Later, South Korea came from behind to beat Czechia 2-1.

Vancouver’s World Cup Schedule {#schedule}

Canada opens its tournament on Friday against Bosnia and Herzegovina (live at the festival). On Saturday, BC Place hosts the first of seven matches: Australia vs. Türkiye.

The FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver runs daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. until July 19, 2026.
