Vancouver’s film industry is buzzing this summer. Whether you are a local film enthusiast or visiting the city for the FIFA World Cup festivities, July 2026 is prime time for celebrity spotting. From highly anticipated video game adaptations to returning fan-favorite dramas, the streets, parks, and campuses of Metro Vancouver are transforming into major Hollywood sets.
The Blockbuster Headliners
The Last of Us — Season 3
The post-apocalyptic mega-hit is back in British Columbia. After utilizing Metro Vancouver’s distinct landscapes and the UBC campus for its previous blocks, the production is deep into its third season. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, filming for this massive HBO project started earlier this spring on March 2 and is scheduled to keep cameras rolling all the way through November 27, 2026.
Life is Strange — Season 1
An exciting new addition to Hollywood North, this Amazon Prime live-action series adapts the critically acclaimed video game franchise. The story follows a photography student who discovers she can rewind time to change the past and save her childhood best friend, Chloe. The brand-new series officially kicks off its local production on June 29 and is expected to wrap up by October 16, 2026.
Yellowjackets — Season 4
The psychological survival drama is currently hitting the home stretch of its latest season. Following a group of teenage soccer players surviving in the wilderness after a plane crash, production has frequently been spotted at iconic local landmarks like David Lam Park and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Filming has been underway since late February and will officially conclude on July 30, 2026.
More Series and Feature Films on Set
Beyond the headliners, a massive mix of dramas, comedies, and sci-fi series are keeping local crews busy through the month:
Shōgun (Season 2): The critically acclaimed historical drama has been commanding massive local sets since January 28, with production scheduled to continue through September 4, 2026.
Virgin River (Season 8): A staple of BC filming, the beloved romance drama started up its eighth season on April 22 and will be keeping crews busy until August 10, 2026.
Animal Control (Season 5): Fox’s workplace comedy started rolling its fifth season on June 15, tracking toward an August 21, 2026 wrap date.
Off Campus (Season 2): This rising series began its summer filming block on June 2 and is scheduled to stay in town until September 18, 2026.
The Audacity (Season 2): Another returning favorite, production started on June 16 and is slated to wrap up on September 28, 2026.
The Probability of Miracles: Adding a major feature film to the mix, this production launches on June 25 and will carry through the fall until October 7, 2026.
Set Spotter Tip: If you’re out exploring the city, keep an eye out for bright pink “LOC” directional street signs—they are the classic indicators that a film set or production crew base is just around the corner!
