FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A two-week deployment by British Columbia’s anti-gang police agency in Fort St. John resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of seven firearms, approximately $16,000 in Canadian currency and suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The deployment by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) took place from August 21 to September 5, 2026, at the request of the Fort St. John RCMP.
CFSEU-BC’s Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) was brought into the community following concerns about increased violence and suspected gang activity.
In a Punjabi-language interview with StudioX News, Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha of CFSEU-BC said the specialized team worked alongside Fort St. John RCMP during the two-week deployment to target individuals believed to be connected to gang activity, violence and the illicit drug trade.
According to CFSEU-BC, intelligence provided by the local RCMP helped UGET officers identify and investigate individuals believed to be involved in the ongoing violence in the community.
During the deployment, officers conducted proactive enforcement and initiated multiple investigations. Several individuals were arrested as police worked to disrupt activity associated with gangs and the illicit drug trade.
Among the items seized were seven firearms, including handguns, rifles and a shotgun.
Police also seized approximately $16,000 in Canadian currency and a significant quantity of suspected illicit drugs. The drugs included cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Additional weapons and related items seized during the operation included brass knuckles, ammunition, a knife, a BB gun and bear spray.
Sangha told StudioX News that working with local policing partners is an important part of CFSEU-BC’s approach to addressing gang-related violence and protecting communities.
The deployment also generated intelligence about individuals believed to be involved in the ongoing gang conflict and illicit drug trade in Fort St. John. CFSEU-BC said that information will assist the Fort St. John RCMP and other policing partners with continuing investigations and potential future enforcement.
The operation highlights the role of specialized police resources in supporting local detachments when communities experience increased gang-related violence.
CFSEU-BC is British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency. Its mandate includes investigating, prosecuting, disrupting and suppressing criminal organizations, while also supporting other police agencies and regional initiatives through strategic and operational services.
Sangha said CFSEU-BC will continue working with policing partners across British Columbia to support enforcement and intelligence efforts aimed at keeping communities safe.
