SURREY, B.C. — Surrey voters will head to the polls on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for the City of Surrey’s municipal election.
Eligible voters will elect one mayor, eight councillors and six school trustees for School District No. 36.
With voting day approaching, residents can review the voting dates, locations, identification requirements and other election information before casting their ballots.
When is the Surrey municipal election?
General voting day is Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The City says eligible voters can vote at any of its 52 voting locations across Surrey.
Advance voting dates

Voters who want to cast their ballot before October 17 can vote during four advance-voting opportunities:
- Wednesday, October 7
- Saturday, October 10
- Wednesday, October 14
- Thursday, October 15
Advance voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 10 designated locations across Surrey.
The advance-voting locations include Kwantlen Park Secondary, Guildford Recreation Centre, Fraser Heights Recreation Centre, Fleetwood Community Centre, Frank Hurt Secondary, Princess Margaret Secondary, École Panorama Ridge Secondary, Cloverdale Recreation Centre, Semiahmoo Secondary and Earl Marriott Secondary.
What should voters bring?
Registered voters should bring their voter card and one piece of acceptable identification.
If a person is not on the registered voters list, the City says they can register when they vote by providing two pieces of acceptable identification.
Voters who need to update information on their voter card should also check the City’s identification requirements before going to vote.
Who is being elected?
The 2026 Surrey municipal election will elect:
- One mayor
- Eight councillors
- Six school trustees for School District No. 36
The City has published candidate information for the offices of mayor, councillor and school trustee.
Voting by mail
Eligible voters can request a mail ballot package. The City says requests can be made until October 14, 2026.
Completed mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8 p.m. on October 17, 2026.
