Vancouver police are asking the public to help identify a man they say may be a witness in the September 23 homicide of 57-year-old Victor Charles McIntyre at CRAB Park. Investigators say they have identified one person featured in an earlier appeal but are still trying to identify the man seen carrying a longboard near Columbia and Keefer streets.

What police are asking the public to identify

In an October 30 update, the Vancouver Police Department said investigators are still seeking to identify a man seen near Columbia and Keefer streets. Police describe him as wearing a black jacket over a red-and-blue shirt with white lettering, black pants and white shoes. He was carrying a longboard.

Police are seeking the man as a potential witness, not as a suspect. The department’s October 30 release includes surveillance footage associated with the appeal. The VPD said one of the people featured in its earlier public appeal has now been identified, but it did not say which person.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the homicide is asked to contact the VPD Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.

What is known about the CRAB Park homicide

Police were called to CRAB Park, at 101 East Waterfront Road, shortly before 7 a.m. on September 23 after receiving a report of a man in medical distress. The VPD said the man died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by first responders.

The department identified the victim the following day as 57-year-old Victor Charles McIntyre. The October 30 appeal is a follow-up to the VPD’s October 2 request for help identifying two potential witnesses. The latest release does not provide further details about the circumstances of McIntyre’s death.

How to contact investigators

Anyone with information can contact the Vancouver Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500. Readers can view the department’s October 30 appeal and its surveillance footage directly on the VPD website.
