SURREY, B.C. — Surrey Police Service has seized a haul of suspected counterfeit sports jerseys, luxury clothing, handbags, jewellery, and watches worth an estimated $6.6 million in lost retail sales, capping a yearlong investigation the force dubbed “Project Prada.”

One man was arrested on June 17 when the department’s Prolific Offender Unit (POU) executed a search warrant at a Surrey residence. Investigators hauled out a significant volume of clothing, jerseys, baggage, and other goods during the raid.
The case began in June 2025, when the POU received a tip from the Canadian Anti-Counterfeiting Network (CACN) about suspected counterfeit clothing and goods being sold in Surrey. Investigators opened a file on a single person of interest and spent the following year building evidence that tied the sales to a Surrey home linked to that individual.
The seizure lands as Metro Vancouver prepares to host FIFA World Cup 26 matches next summer — a window when demand for soccer merchandise runs high. Hundreds of the seized items were soccer jerseys.
What investigators seized
Suspected counterfeit items recovered during the search included:
- 536 Adidas jerseys (soccer, NBA, and NHL)
- 1,758 Nike jerseys (soccer, NFL, NBA, and MLB)
- 131 CCM NHL jerseys
- 375 Mitchell & Ness jerseys and caps (NBA, NFL, MLB)
- 28 pieces of Hermès jewellery and footwear
- 203 pieces of Louis Vuitton clothing and handbags
- 673 pieces of Gucci bags and footwear
- 340 pieces of Christian Dior clothing, bags, jewellery, and footwear
- 117 pieces of Burberry clothing
- 120 pieces of Bathing Ape clothing
- 19 Rolex watches
- 85 Cartier watches, sunglasses, and jewellery
What happens next
The man was released from police custody shortly after his arrest. No charges have been announced. Surrey Police Service says the investigation remains active and ongoing.
