VANCOUVER — Longtime B.C. MLA Adrian Dix will seek re-election as the BC NDP candidate in Vancouver-Renfrew in the October 24 provincial election.
The BC NDP announced Dix’s candidacy as the party continues to finalize its slate for the 2026 election.
Dix was first elected to the B.C. legislature in 2005 and has served in cabinet under both former premier John Horgan and current Premier David Eby. He currently serves as Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs. B.C. legislative records list him as the MLA for Vancouver-Renfrew.
Before his current portfolio, Dix served as B.C.’s Minister of Health from 2017 to 2024. During his time in the health ministry, he was responsible for the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and for a number of healthcare initiatives.
The BC NDP says Dix has also worked on issues including housing, public safety, schools, community health facilities, childcare and climate change.
In his statement announcing his candidacy, Dix said his focus is on connecting economic growth with public services.
“I’m a New Democrat because I believe a strong economy should serve people,” Dix said.
He said expanding industries such as clean energy and creating jobs can help support hospitals, schools and other public services.
As Energy and Climate Solutions Minister, Dix has been involved in the province’s energy agenda, including efforts to expand wind and solar power through BC Hydro. The province’s current legislative record also shows Dix participating in debates involving B.C. Hydro, clean energy and climate policy.
Dix has been a member of the B.C. legislature for more than two decades. His return to the ballot comes as the province prepares for the October 24, 2026 provincial election.
Elections BC lists October 24 as Final Voting Day for the provincial election.
The Vancouver-Renfrew race will therefore feature Dix seeking another term as the BC NDP candidate.
